SECOND GENERATION

2. William Duval Sr Lovett SR(1) was born on 30 Oct 1824 in Loudon, Va.(2) (3) He was born on 30 Oct 1824 in Loudoun Co., Va. He died in Jan 1897 in Arkadelphia Cemetery, Alabama. William Duval Lovett, Sr attended Granville College, which is now Dennison University. He loved Latin and Greek and always read his Bible in Greek. He was a well respected man of integrity, but few resources. He was someone we can be proud of. William Duval was first married to Melissa Harrison Sears Lovett and after her death in 1884, he married his daughter, Kate's best friend, Lois Wilson. This info was sent from Jennifer Cline Romano, who is also a descendant of William Duval Lovett, Sr., and his second wife, Lucy Wilson Lovett, of New Providence, New Jersey, but born in Georgia. email: Romano1@@home.com

Jennifer Cline Romano (above) also has letters written by Nancy Jane Robinson Lovett, wife of Jonas Lovett and parents of William D. Lovett, Sr. Nancy Lovett was born about 1805 in Virginia, and the letters span from the time period of 1852 (with a gap around the Civil War) and up through World War II. The ones most fascinating are from Nancy Lovett, written from 1855 or so, up through 1875. Several of the letters are from W. D. Lovett Sr. to his various family members. For Joe Franks - one of the letters is from Lee Cassady, addressed to "Uncle Will". She has a photostat copy of the original envelope showing the address of his pharmacy. There are references to Pearl and Hannah. Hannah was confusing at first, but when you read the letters it becomes apparent that there are two Hannah's. Aunt Hannah is the sister of eith Jonas, Nancy, or even a parent of theirs. She came with them from Virginia. Her age is not mentioned in the letters, but they always refer to her as "Aunt Hannah" and it is clear that she is much older than Jonas and Nancy Lovett. Then one of the grandchildren is named Hannah. Jennifer Cline Romano also has a photo of William Duval Lovett, Sr and his second wife, Lois Wilson Lovett and family taken about 1900. She offered to send me a copy of it.

William's second marriage to Lois Wilson Lovett produced two children, Charles (Ned) Lovett and Eunice Lovett. Eunice married J. E. Cline and had three children: John Cline, Pierce Cline, and Lucy Cline Huey of Georgia.

Jennifer's Aunt Lucy, the granddaughter of W. D. Lovett Sr, used to visit all the relatives, in Ohio, Florida, and Washington, D.C. Aunt Lucy visited Kate and her Postmaster husband, Bob and she said that they were wonderful people, but disappointed that he lost his post when President Wilson's administration changed.
