Henry Milton Fitzgerald married Indiana Alabama "Indy" Dyess Fitzgerald,
on 22 Dec 1885, per Hernando County Marriage Record Book O. Married by R. J.
Hayes, Minister of the Gospel.
Henry was born in South Carolina, and then moved to Georgia, and onto Florida.
He first settled in Inverness, and later in Pasco County, Hudson, Florida.
There is some speculation that he was born in Jacksonville, Florida, if this
is true, then his father James Fitzgerald was probably the one born in South
Carolina.
Henry and Indy owned and operated a grocery store in Inverness, Florida for many
years, and later moved to Hudson, Florida and owned and ran a grocery store there
too. They lived in a two story house in Hudson, Florida.
Henry worked as a sailor in his younger years, shipping imports along the Gulf
Coast, from the Cedar Keys to Tarpon Springs, as told by his granddaughters,
Pauline Fitzgerald Yerke and Leta Fitzgerald Butler.
The last 10-15 years of his life he lived in the home of his son, George Albert
Fitzgerald and daughter-in-law, Kate Elizabeth Lovett Fitzgerald, until his death
19 Dec 1941.
Henry was blind the last few years of his life, and his grandchildren, Pauline,
Louis, Rute, and Elsie had to lead him around the house, especially to the bathroom.
Rute use to purposely run him into door frames so he wouldn't ask Rute to help
him very often. It was a childish prank, but painful at times for Grandpa Henry.
Henry and Indiana's children were:
Eugenia Fitzgerald, born 30 Nov 1883, and married William Theo Langley.
George Albert Fitzgerald, born 18 Jan 1896, and married Kate Elizabeth
Lovett.
